Christmas Eve. December is one of my favorite months. It feels like everyone has something to celebrate and there’s so much to do, but it’s all good. I’m not a big fan of winter, or even snow, but a flurry on Christmas Eve as TV specials and movie marathons play, soft music… overlapping major holidays… warm fires… families trying to get along over a meal, friends sending holiday texts and just a general feeling of calmness… I love it. Christmas day isn’t as exciting when you don’t wake up to a pile of toys. I like Christmas Eve, looking forward to giving gifts and maybe getting a candle and pair of fuzzy socks or a gift card to somewhere nice.

Christmas Eve is the one day of the year where I know I have something to look forward to, no matter what.
